After four years from the exit of the first chapter, the Lhaäd trilogy, Belgian project strictly linked to the collective The Nox Entity together with Entarung, Rituals of the Dead Hand and Wolven, arrives at the end 'Hadal' That is the adopelagic area in which the deepest oceanic pits are located.
The concept is absolutely interesting and partially detaches itself from the usual themes of a genre, the black metal, which has gone several times towards the limits of the deep space but almost never in the most remote ones on the earth.
As for the previous “Below” and “Beneath”, we find forty minutes divided into six movements in which we are guided by a modern and atmospheric black metal, in the wake of Midnight Odyssey, Cognitum sea and less claustrophobic Darkspace.
Underwater effects and environmental effects make us immerse immediately in what are medium long songs, which are supported on quite high speeds and on which melodic guitar scaffolding and often disorienting keyboards are built such as in “Beyond I”, in which we are attacked by a series of not identifiable but disturbing and affection sound effects.
Almost dissonant influences are the opening of “Beyond II” and “Beyond V”, capable of expanding the melodic spectrum by borrowing the avant -garde of the Deathspell Omega and dressing it with electronic rugs typical of the symphonic school of bands such as Limbonic Art, resulting among the most complex songs at the compositional level.
Compared to the previous albums, there is immediately a greater effort in creating a coherent atmosphere with the concept thanks to the most well -kept and effective use of the electronic component, which manages to transform songs such as “Beyond III” (a tribute to the emperor of the start of career) and “Beyond IV” in an effective submarine journey.
Apart from the final trace, which begins and ends with a symphonic ride broken by almost psychedelic solutions in the central part, to further accentuate an evolutionary step compared to the past.
“Beyond” is a qualitatively in line with previously musical level but which increases, compared to the past, the immersive component approaching the ultimate goal of its concept: a fascinating work, capable of shining with its own light using the classic elements of the genre, even without large revolutions of any kind.
