Friday, September 27, 2024 Laura Pausini will release an unreleased single, “HI“, with which he closes the path of his latest album, “Parallel Souls“. To present it to the press, the singer invited the newspapers to listen to it in preview during a bus tour through the streets of Milan with her present.
The song was written by the singer-songwriter Sam Smithfrom the Italian R'N'B singer-songwriter, Anise (we talked about it in this article), from Antonio Dimartino, Paul Paper and from Fraser T Smith.
Laura she begins by explaining how the song that closes the tracklist of her latest album came to her, Parallel Souls.
“Suddenly, this summer a new song arrived… Actually, I wasn't looking for anything new because I had already finished the album Anime Parallele and planned a tour in sports halls, extended after the success of the world tour.
I didn't plan on adding more songs, but when I heard this song, I felt the need to tell a story I experienced last year with a very special person, a friend of mine, who is here with us today.”
The story behind the new single
The person to whom Laura it refers to is Rosary Sindona, his personal assistant for years and now a member of the press office Goigest.
“The song is not about love, but about my bond with Rosaria. We worked together for a very long time, and our relationship has always been symbiotic since we were young. She wrote a thesis about me at university, and from that moment we became friends and then collaborators.
Over the years, I practically convinced her to move to Rome, but maybe I was wrong, because from that moment on she was no longer the same. After several events, we realized that our relationship had changed. Maybe, to save ourselves and the bond we had, we separated. We stopped working together and, for a while, even talking to each other.
In the past, I would have reacted by 'erasing' her, as I always have. But this time it was different: I learned a new way to let go of people who did not hurt me, but who shared important moments with me. It was a sign of maturity, which came without me looking for it, and all thanks to her.
I felt the need to tell this story, because we live in an era where relationships wear out quickly, where everything changes too quickly. I think it's important to talk about the freedom of letting go of someone who has been fundamental in our lives, without looking for blame.”
This new awareness is very significant for Laura Pausiniwho recalls how difficult it was for her to go through another separation in 2004, which led her to therapy and to writing the album Stay tuned.
“In 2004, I spent about a year in therapy with a psychologist, and I learned a lot about myself. During that time, I needed to protect myself and finally close with the people who had hurt me. I thought it was the only way to move on. But over time, I realized that not all people deserve to be pushed away forever. Some deserve a caress when they say goodbye.”
Laura Pausini talks about a new approach that will lead to the new album
In HIthe new single, Laura wanted to create a contrast between the song's message and its cheerful, pop/club sound, produced by Fraser T Smith.
“Fraser and I said that we would like to continue working together in the future. From January, after the end of the tour, I will start meeting new authors and those with whom I usually collaborate to explore new ideas.
After so many years, I realized that I want to have fun, I don't want to be tormented by performance anxiety anymore. I would like to create a project with new sounds, maybe for 2025 or 2026, and I already have three possible directions in mind. I just have to choose the one that represents me the most.”
This desire for experimentation has brought us closer Laura to new musical worlds. He revealed that he loves rap artists like Marrakesh And Ghalito appreciate Madamwith whom he collaborated in Boxand to consider Irama one of the most talented young people on the current music scene.
An unexpected collaboration was the one with Lazzain the song Zeros morecontained in the album Locura.
“Knowing Lazza, I discovered a different person than I imagined. I would like to clarify that I am not a 'boomer', I still belong to generation X! However, sometimes we tend to have prejudices about younger guys, especially those who do rap.
Jacopo (Lazza) surprised me with his depth and musical culture. He often told me that he wanted to write something for me, and I was intrigued by the idea. I found myself many times at his house, while he played the piano and sang: it was really interesting.
You know I'm not a big fan of overusing autotune, especially in live concerts, where people pay to hear you sing. We talked about it a lot, also because he's really good at singing.”
TOUR DIRECTION IN THE SPORTS HALLS
After the record-breaking world tour, Laura Pausini will return to the sports halls in November and December.
“This was the tour in which I sold the most tickets ever, even more than when I was twenty. This success gave me an incredible boost, because we singers of the 90s grew up with the idea that after thirty the affection of the public would decrease, leading to a physiological decline in sales.
When they proposed that I do the tour in the sports halls for Anime Parallele, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to fill them. But this was the tour with the most sold out dates in my career. That's why I decided to extend it until December 31st.
December 31st will be the last date in Messina, and I will do a special concert. First there will be the usual live, but after midnight something special will happen to celebrate New Year's Eve!”
