The show’s 12th season will premiere on Feb. 4
Larry David is back for one last blast of hilarious, unrepentant misanthropy in the official trailer for the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The two-minute clip finds Larry at his typical best (meaning, worst), telling one person it’s not so bad his father-in-law died because his birth father is still alive and asking a gay couple if there’s any correlation between their child’s last name and the parent whose semen was used in conception. At one point, he even manages a perfect golf drive — straight into someone’s back.
The other half of the clip is, well, Larry being yelled at by pretty much everyone and not caring at all. In the final scene, after disappointing yet another person, Larry — wearing a sharp pair of cat-eye glasses for some reason — succinctly replies, “I really did the best under the circumstances of a person who hates people and yet had to be amongst them.”
Season 12 of Curb Your Enthusiasm will premiere Feb. 4 on HBO, with new episodes airing weekly up to the scheduled April 7 series finale. The show’s core cast will return for the final season, plus some more recent additions: Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Cheryl Hines, J.B. Smoove, Richard Lewis, Ted Danson, Vince Vaughn, and Tracey Ullman.
David confirmed that Season 12 of Curb would be the show’s last when the premiere date was announced last month. In a statement, David joked about finally getting to “shed this ‘Larry David persona’” after 12 seasons and more than 20 years and become “the person God intended me to be — the thoughtful, kind, caring, considerate human being I was until I got derailed by portraying this malignant character.”
