The live session is available on YouTube “What Destroys Us”single from rock band Apulian LaMatta from the February 13 on all digital platforms and on the radio together with the song “The King's Children”; a live version that enhances its more intimate and reflective side. The song moves on a rock ballad built by stratificationswhere guitars, bass and voices progressively intertwine, leaving the task of supporting and amplifying the emotional content to the sound. This live session highlights the more fragile and compact size of the projectproviding a sincere portrait of the research phase that LaMatta is going through.
“I Figli del Re” and “Cosa ci Distrugge” make up a 45 rpm single that marks a central transition phase in LaMatta's artistic career. The two songs, published as side A and side B, represent a moment of transformation and redefinition of the band's sound. The double single was born from one deeply introspective phasein which lyrics and atmospheres become darker and denser than the debut productions, while the sounds evolve towards a fuller and more layered writing. “I Figli del Re” introduces the new direction of the band, while “Cosa ci Distrugge” delves into its more reflective side.
“This single is configured as a transitional work, a “ferrying” double single that accompanies LaMatta towards a new creative phase, maintaining a strong link with his rock roots but opening the way to a more conscious artistic maturation”. – LaMatta
If “I Figli del Re” represents a confirmation of LaMatta's musical style, the B-side “What Destroys Us” marks a phase of research and experimentation of the band. In this one rock balladthe song entrusts the sound stratification of guitars, bass and voices with the task of supporting and amplifying the central message, building an emotional crescendo that accompanies the listener towards a more intimate and reflective dimension.
WHO ARE THE LAMATTAs?
We come from Monopoli (BA), a place where the word “artist” is often a linguistic misunderstanding. We try to understand who we are by putting our anxieties into music, transforming doubts and obsessions into noise, melody and words. It took us five years to decide that our genre could be called New Rock Revolution, even if said out loud it still makes us laugh a little.
LaMatta is a band from Monopoli (BA) with an unconventional identity, which reworks the language of rock with style and personality.
Between dark atmospheres and sharp guitars, the group has its roots in New Wave and British Post Punk Revival, contaminating them with the urgency of Alternative Rock and the rough distortions of American Grunge.
The lyrics, in Italian, describe the present with emotional clarity and a personal touch.
A strong, constantly evolving identity for a band that isn't afraid to get its hands dirty with reality.
LaMatta was officially formed in 2021, but as early as 2019 the ideas that would flow into the band's first songs began to take shape. In 2022 they released their first EP of the same name, preceded by the single “Berlino” (2021), which obtained positive feedback and allowed them to participate in the live selections of the Arezzo Wave Band Contest. Over the following year, LaMatta intensifies his live activity.
At the beginning of 2024, the band decides to focus on the research and evolution of their sound, recording new demos, four of which are produced between the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 at Slap Project Studio with Sebastiano Lillo and Paolo Palmieri.
In 2025 the lineup was enriched with the entry of guitarist Vito Allegretti, who brought new influences and contributed to the evolution of the sound towards even more refined and incisive sounds.
