THE WEATHER It's the debut EP of KIKIamong the new artists branded Futura Dischi.
Anticipated by the first singles 1 more minute And It's a lifethe album is the story of the artist's complex bond with time and the slow flow of nature, in a musical manifesto balanced between the influences of Dijon, Saya Gray, Sampha and Frank Ocean.
“We try to fight time, accelerating our pace, running faster and faster, in a race where you never arrive first. Involuntarily, we are all in this race, there are those who are interested in running faster and those who instead take their own time. In the end, however, among all the participants in the race, it is the truth that always wins, with its own time and pace. We, in the comparison with time, can do nothing.”
KIKI
After collaborating with artists such as Ghemon, Mistaman, Arya, Missey, RGB prisma and others, and having published his own music under the pseudonym Sup Nasa, Claudio La Rocca, an artist from Campania based in Milan, begins a new musical journey.
Kiki represents the beginning of a linguistic research, in themes and sounds. Moving away from the classic sound deriving from black music and electronics that characterizes his productions, Kikì allows him to return a different and original sound vision. Illuminated by the visceral approach of Dijon, by the guitars of Saya Gray, by the pragmatism of Sampha and by the research of Frank Ocean, Kikì does not represent the synthesis of experiences and listening, but rather a look at new musical panoramas.
“When my grandfather painted, he always signed himself as Kikì. One day I asked him why and he replied by saying “because the painting could have been painted by kikì or kokò, you have to like it regardless of who painted it”. I have always been fascinated by this vision that goes beyond labels, beyond paternity and focuses only on art. And it is with this name that I decided to publish new music, breaking away from my old name, because in the end songs have to be liked regardless of who sings them.”
