Kesha? That's Ke$ha. The pop star celebrated Independence Day with her first single as a free woman, and under her own label, Kesha Records. On Thursday, she released Joyridea return to the pop dance music of her first two albums.
Kesha co-wrote the track with Madison Love and Zhone, who also produced the single. The track is also a taste of a “carefree summer,” according to a press release. Kesha had previously teased the release of new music by posting photos taken at gas stations and 7-Elevens around Los Angeles.
“I couldn’t have done it without all of you,” X wrote on Tuesday. Joyride It’s the first song Kesha has released since settling a decade-long defamation lawsuit with Dr. Luke last summer, years after filing a lawsuit against the producer in 2014 accusing him of sexual, physical and emotional abuse. It’s also her first release since leaving Luke’s RCA label, Kemosabe, in December.
