When you think about the future of jazz you can only refer to Kamasi Washington. The Los Angeles saxophone giant arrives in Jazzmi for a preview with a visionary and innovative flavor. An exclusive performance in which “Fearless Movement” will be presented, her new musical work inspired by the dance and birth of the first daughter, coming out on May 3.
Polystrumerist and composer, Kamasi has distinguished himself worldwide in the jazz and non -jazz scene. His spirit is the home of a perfect avant -garde, talent, reworking and innovation mixture that made his albums of this century among the most acclaimed albums.
2020 is the year in which it becomes co-founder of the Dinner Party in which he collaborates with long-standing friends such as Terrace Martin, Robert Glasper and 9th Wonder: their EP Dinnerp Arth (dessert) was subsequently appointed to Grammy for best progressive R&B album.
An incredible ascent that saw him share stages from all over the world with giants of the international music scene such as Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine, Herbie Hancock – with which he will take care of the Hollywood Bowl Jazz Fest for the second consecutive year – and many others.
Not only a prominent figure in the musical field, but in his career he also dressed the role of director with AS Told to G/D Thyself, a short film in which the songs taken from Heaven and Earth, his album of 2018, which debuted at the Sunday Film Festival 2019, enjoyed large consents, took shape.
