Josh Homme requires emergency surgery. Queens of the Stone Age cancel nine more European shows after canceling their July 5 AMA Music Fest.
“Queens are sorry we can't play for you. We apologize for the inconvenience and share your frustration and disappointment,” the band wrote in a social media post announcing the cancellation of nine shows scheduled in Europe from July 10 to 27.
“Queens of the Stone Age regrets to announce that Josh Homme must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery. Every effort has been made to continue touring, but doing so is no longer possible.”
After the concert was cancelled on July 5, with a tail of controversy on social media by those who thought that the show had not been cancelled for health reasons, Homme managed to perform at the Ippodromo San Siro in Milan, coming out (as we wrote in our report) visibly tired. The exact reason for the cancellation has not been disclosed, but there is talk (for example, the Corriere della Sera) of an inguinal hernia of the singer and guitarist, who at times appeared to be in pain and not 100% fit.
The first concert after the canceled ones is scheduled for August 8th in Gothenburg, Sweden. The European tour will end on August 21st, the American one will start on September 27th.
