Consisting of nine new songs ranging in length from two and a half minutes to nearly seventeen minutes, “Curious Ruminant“is an album composed primarily of pieces played by the entire band. Musicians featured include former keyboardist Andrew Giddings and drummer James Duncan, as well as current band members David Goodier, John O'Hara, Scott Hammond and, making his recording debut with the group, guitarist Jack Clark.
THE Jethro Tull they first appeared under this name in 1968 in London's famous Marquee Club and from there they immediately managed to build a large following, playing up and down England. The real success – even a bit of a surprise – came at the Sunbury Jazz and Blues Festival in the summer of 1968. Jethro Tull recorded and released their first album, This Was, with the original lineup of Anderson, Cornick, Bunker and Abrahams. After the replacement of Mick Abrahams with Martin Barre, about 30 other musicians took turns in the ranks of Jethro Tull, a brand that survives to this day and lasts over time: Ian Anderson generally performs with the band for about a hundred shows every year around the world.
