Jack DeJohnette, historic jazz drummer, has died at 83. The news was confirmed by ECM, the record company that followed many of his works. The cause is heart failure.
DeJohnette is considered one of the greatest drummers in history. In fact, his contribution to the skins alongside Miles Davis was fundamental; we can hear it in albums like Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson And On the Corner.
Thanks to Bitches Brew he meets Keith Jarrett and becomes the stable member of the trio. In the meantime he recorded records as bandleader of the Directions, New Directions and Special Editions.
In his career DeJohnette has collaborated with Chet Baker, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, just to name a few.
