Ivan Cattaneo has launched its new multimedia project, exclusively in physical form TWO.I (Azzurra Music)
The release was preceded by the launch and publication of the video of Helpless and on the radio and digitally of the new single Sappho-Love.
Ivan Cattaneo has created a composite and transversal work, designed to overcome the barriers between expressive languages. TWO.I it is a work that brings together music, literature, visual art and video art in a single creative container, confirming the experimental vocation and flexible nature of the artist, who has always been an atypical and innovative figure on the Italian cultural scene.
Freedom and sarcasm are the two elements supporting the theme of diversity which intertwine its artistic dimension and reality in a unique and extremely personal way.
Ivan Cattaneo presents the project like this:
“I don't know how to better describe this work on which I have worked for almost 8 long years. My record manager Marco Rossi described it as a musical treasure chest and I believe it is true, a total set of everything I have always done: music, painting, videos, stories, aphorisms, anecdotes, photography and much more.
I have never considered myself just a singer, it was much more difficult for me to make myself understood and accepted both in art and in life.
Only a few truly understood me and fought alongside me in these first 50 years of my career. One of these was Nanni Ricordi, father of all singer-songwriters. Maybe I'm too active or maybe I don't do anything really important for the market, but what I create makes me happy: sometimes that's enough for me.
I really hope it can make you happy too, entering dizzily into my bizarre world, but without parachutes and pre-judgments or other inhibitory brakes.”
Ivan Cattaneo – DUE.I
TWO.I is divided into two mirror-image parts, which correspond to the two souls of the project: Titanic Orchestra And A Singing Mammal. The volume (21×28 cm) contains 5 media – 4 CDs and 1 DVD – which complete its structure as a multimedia work of art.
- Titanic Orchestra is a concept album that reinterprets the story of the famous ocean liner through 24 imaginary characters. Each of which takes voice in one of the 24 unreleased songs written and performed by the artist.
The stories of the protagonists mix together and are narrated in music and words, merging into a single poetic dimension. This first part includes 2 audio CDs with unreleased songs and 1 DVD which collects the Tableau-Mouvants, video art works created by Ivan Cattaneo himself and dedicated to each character, testifying to his continuous research on the relationship between sound and image.
- By turning the volume over you enter the second entitled part A Singing Mammal. An autobiography that traces 50 years of his career. Cattaneo it is told through aphorisms, poems, stories, surreal fairy tales, paintings and photographs, building a visionary and authentic self-portrait, where irony becomes the tool to dampen and at the same time amplify the strength of the message.
2 audio CDs complete the project: the first collects 19 historical songs from his repertoire, rearranged and re-sung, while the second offers the revival successes that made him popular with the general public, including Zebra with Polka Dots, A little doll that says no no no and Il Geghege.
“'Titanic-Orkestra' and 'A Singing Mammal' I consider them almost my artistic testament, but given the contents also a testament to life. I've had a career spanning 50 years and I really felt the desire to talk about myself, but also the whole world which has really changed in the meantime, through my imagination which never wants to give in to age, which in art is not necessarily lethal. Thank you for being uninhibited accomplices in all my expressive madness.”
