Make you below, lovers of the 90s melodic metal metal; Here there is bread for your hungry teeth of malignant darkness and anti-omosphere magniloquence.
Despite the Cassandre of the Black Metal in teductism, they declare the aforementioned scene as dead and buried at regular intervals from the early years of the new millennium, in fact, a certain way of understanding the genre seems to be a beautiful necrologists, taking straight on its way and persisting to declare itself more alive and well than ever. This is further proof of this this new release of the Swedes Istapp, who came with the present here “Sól Tér Sorna” to the fourth full-length of their career.
Post black-depressive moments to give yourself a nice desperate aura? Avant-gond elements to give itself a more intellectual tone? In here you will not find anything of this: only a lot of melodic black metal with very clear 90's roots, played as Sweden commands.
However, do not think about finding a 'copy-paste' product for your hands for the nostalgics of the good times gone by: the Istapps have been able to treasure the accumulated experience, love what they propose and are not satisfied with to hold looking at the old photos of the past heroes on their collection of Slayer Magazine; Their approach is finally mature, personal and inspired and everything, in the project, appears now treated and defined in detail: from the image (that yes, definitely in line with current times) to the writing of the songs, stylistically very framed but, at the same time, you free from any possible anachronism.
In short, ours adore Dissection, Naglfar, Sacramentum and Dawn, and this was already known; But, if you want yet another tribute bands in disguise, better if you are looking for elsewhere (any reference to truly existing bands is purely random). The impression that has emerged from the listener of the “Under Jökelisen” opaner is that the Swedish formation has finally managed to find its clear and defined dimension, after the stylistic uncertainties of the beginning and the excessive derinative reminiscences scattered along the way: the melodic textures in tremolo picking are still there, like the openings of voice clean by the tones, far from Bathory and Windir hints; Even the intriguing inserts of Synth, not only the aforementioned Lord Belial, but also the first … and oceans, are still part of the company, as well as the constant basic aggression; What has changed is that now everything sounds damn 'Istapp', and this makes all the difference in the world.
From the most ferocious songs, such as “Nifelheim” (praised, moreover, from a 'SPACE' detachment 'almost' Kingcrimonian 'of great effect) the title-track “Sól Tér Surna” or “Kallbrand”, to the most atmospheric ones, such as “Storm Av is”, “Ragnarök” or the final “Vinterkrig”, our own have managed to infuse their own. Personalities with large handfuls, conditing everything with a ability to create songs of great socket, authentic 'songs', at a level never reached first on the previous discs.
In this regard, in this regard, the ability they accrued to use the most epic situations of their proposal to characterize the individual compositions, thanks to the Melodic 'Hooks' and clean lines never, before, so effective, so effective, all enriched by thin folk reminiscences that give the set to give together an even more bewitching quid, has proven to be funded.
In short, the Istapp, with this “Sól Tér Sorna”, have churned out an authentic melodic black metal jewel, capable of satisfying even the most demanding palates, in addition to having put on the market what is undoubtedly, to date, their best album ever. Promoted without reservations.
