Last Friday the new single was released Penguins Tactical Nuclear, Icelanda song that is achieving great success and which anticipates the band's new album, Hello World. At the same time, on social media, some users noticed similarities between the band's song Richard Zanotti And Right-handedgreat success of Gazelles.
It all started on social media, from X (former Twitter) a TikTokwhere several users underlined how the refrain of Iceland recalls that of the song by the Roman singer-songwriter. One user, for example, writes: “Ok, Iceland has the chorus LITERALLY the same as Gazzelle's Destri, but I love both voices, the lyrics are beautiful too, but Christ they could have changed the base”, and many seem to share this opinion.
Net of this, the people of the web are focusing even more on the issue due to a video published by Gazelles in their stories Instagram in the past few hours. A video which, despite no official declarations, seems to be an (ironic and piqued) response to the alleged plagiarism.
In the video, in fact, we see the singer-songwriter wandering around a bookshop and stopping in the section dedicated to books on countries around the world. Among the various destinations, Gazelles he chooses to pick up, showing the cover clearly to the camera, the very book dedicated to Iceland, the country that gives the title to the single of discord.
After that, Gazelles he puts down the book and moves on to another destination… Istanbul.
Obviously, and the singer-songwriter is aware of it, these images could only fuel the controversy, making one think of a real dissing against the Penguins Tactical Nuclear.
In any case, below you will find the two songs. And what do you think? Do you hear a similarity between the two pieces? In our opinion, some notes of the melodic line of the chorus are similar and the same goes for the harmonic turn of the guitar in the chorus. It's a long road from here to talking about plagiarism.
