From the test rooms to the limelight of the large stages: i Palea they are one of the bands selected to open the 2025 tour of the Afterhoursafter emerging in the project “Fresh meat – sounds from the future“Curated by Manuel Agnelli. In this interview they tell us about their path, the emotions of this unexpected opportunity, and the musical vision that guides them, between Brit Rock influences and American garage.
1. Let's start from the beginning: how did you learn about the “fresh meat” project and what did you mean for you to participate?
Of fresh meat we learned through word of mouth. After learning about the participation of our fellow villagers, we noticed that on the Instagram page of Germi there was still the possibility of applying and we have not thought twice.
Participating in fresh meat was an unaware revolution because we would never have expected that all this would arise from a simple candidacy sent by email. At the beginning we did not even think of receiving an answer because precisely at that time we were sending email to the right and Manca to picked up as many dates for spring and summer around as many dates, receiving practically 0 answers. So it was a beautiful surprise.
2. Get on stage as an opening act of the tour of an iconic band such as Afterhours: what emotions did you feel when you learned that you had been chosen?
The emotions of receiving such a proposal are difficult to explain in words because, probably, in our language there is not even a suitable word that can define these deep feelings that are a mixture of gratitude and unheard of joy. After a few uncontrolled tears there is also probably the sense of not really making on what stage you will find yourself until you live it im that moment.

3. How important is it for an emerging band like your being able to count on initiatives such as “fresh meat”? Do you think that there is still room for new levers in the Italian scene?
Initiatives like fresh meat must be a starting point for all the other prominent figures that there are Italy to give the space that really serves the emerging and underground scene. In Italy there are many words and few facts. Fresh meat has shown exactly the opposite: without telling us anything, without giving us any kind of expectation (because as we have already said before, we started thinking that in the best of cases we would have ended up playing in Manuel Agnelli's place and nothing more) gave us everything, even what we would never have thought could happen.
In Italy there is always the space for new levers, but when you are in an overcrowded cage it is also difficult to get the necessary space to breathe.
4. Is there a song of your repertoire that you feel better represent your identity? What will be the song with which you want to leave your mark from the stage?
Among our repertoire, AS We Fall is certainly the piece we feel best represents us and which we think also well represents the idea of being artists in this historical moment. It is enough to completely get lost in the maze of a gigantic world, which, while continuing to explore you understand, have no boundaries and sometimes, the meaning that something does not have contours and imposes us limits, scares us. For this reason, you must always try to keep in mind what is your goal and not to be distracted continuously from what surrounds us, and it is certainly the one we would like to leave a mark on people. In fact, it is the piece that we put at the beginning of the lineup, anticipated by the famous Oppenheimer's monologue regarding the invention and release of the atomic bomb: just as this weapon of mass destruction was a revolution in a scientific sense but an involution in the human sense, the awareness of making music today means deciding which side to be, if contributing to the noise or looking for a language that leaves a sign.

The coexistence of these two very uniform souls was born from a connection that we created to make our very different musical tastes come to a common point. The EP was in some ways an experiment, which allowed us to probe the ground on many fronts that at the time we still did not know, but that made us push even beyond limits that we had not yet broken. There were 5 pieces that took shape in different phases of the group, which had to be settled on a predefined route: Giulio, the singer, entered after the instrumental had already been written, and had to take the measures to understand how to make his parts, of the parties in which he had not actively participated. Then this EP transformed us: we shaped him and he then shaped us, allowing us to play it in many beautiful places, which made us understand how much the possibility of transforming all this dream was actually tangible and we are proud of this.

6. “Everything Will Fall Into Place” is the title of your first ep. Is it a declaration of intent or a wish? What is the story behind this title?
Everything Will Fall Into Place is both: a somewhat stoic philosophy, where everything seems to be part of a larger order and what we see we are small pieces of a puzzle that are put together. This happened to us to think about it above all for events that in our eyes seemed almost random, linked by thin threads that for a nothing would have been able to not happen and instead have made what we are now. We think the most striking example both how we met Giulio and how he joined Palea. Samuele caught her, the drummer, one evening who casually came out and had gone to see a concert with a friend. There to open the evening, precisely in that place there was Giulio, with his other formation and it was like an enlightenment: he was the right person at the right time.
These are the small details of life that however create a wonderful picture and allow us to arrive where we want to arrive. Whether it was destiny or chance that we met Giulio, we don't know, we only know that “Everything Will Fall Into Place” sooner or later, for better or for worse.
