It seemed to be directed decisively towards a more dynamic dimension, marked by clear pulsations and a decidedly synthetic declination the trajectory of the Iluiteq. Over two years from “Reflexions from the Road”, the project shared by Sergio Calzoni (interview, Orghanon) and Andrea Bellucci (Red Sector A, Nerva, Subterranean Source) retraces the Ambient drone track of the beginning, making use of the experience of Eraldo Bernocchi (Sigillum S), already alongside artists of the caliber of Harold Budd, Robin Guthrie, Bill Laswell and Mick Harris. It is a functional return to translate the theme of the absence around which the work revolves into sound, a choice that leads to the definition of an intimate dimension in which nostalgia and shadows reign unchallenged by clearing the field also from the brightest soundscape of “The Light Inside, The Dark Outside”.
Formally the disc is divided into two parts – a structure also highlighted by the denomination of the traces – one dedicated to what disappears, the other to what remains after the loss. In essence, the sound remains cohesive, presenting itself as an ambient flow that connects and blends analog synths, field recording, piano and guitar scores entrusted to Bernocchi. The rhythmic component is reduced to the margins, present as a deaf pulsation held in the background (“Fade, in the wind”) and faint reverberations low in filigree (“Fade, out on the Horizon”).
Above all, the degree of rarefaction of shaped modulations, pushed in the second half of a greater degree, capable of enhancing the emotional brought and the contemplative attitude of the whole, with apex in the final “Remain, in this silent place”, changes. It is above all here that Irisarri's hand is noticed, present in the control room to give a hand to a successful collaboration – on the other hand the IDM transfiguration of “Things Are Not What They Seem” had been an excellent signal – but from which it was legitimate to expect a further waste.
