The municipalities of Canadian past were not enough to dilute the tensions between Neil Young and Elon Musk. The legendary singer -songwriter, born 79 years ago in Toronto, presented a new song entitled “Let's Roll Again” during a charity concert at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. On the famous melody of Woody Guthrie's “This Land Is Your Land”, Young has intoned very hard verses against the entrepreneur and adviser to Donald Trump: “If you are a fascist, buy a Tesla/ It's Electric, It Doesn'T Matter”. A clear provocation addressed to the patron of Tesla.
The message of the song is an appeal to car manufacturers: “Create something useful for people/ something that makes life safer/ who does not kill our children/ who works with clean energy. Next, America! We enter the race: China has already passed us, they are building clean cars”. For Young, electricity is not enough to redeem Tesla: the problem is ideology Trumpiana embodied by Musk, a frequent target of the Canadian musician who has always been deployed against theestablishment.

Music criticism arrives in a delicate moment for the Musk company, who recorded a drop in sales in the first quarter of the year. To worsen the situation, also the controversial leadership of Musk in the so -called doge, the Department of Government efficiency, which has attracted many controversies.
Personal relationships between the two are far from cordial. Musk, who lived a few years old in Canada as a young man, exploiting maternal citizenship, has never been seen a good eye on Neil Young. The singer -songwriter even fears repercussions on the return to the United States after the European tour, due to his critical positions towards the former Trump president.
“If you speak against Trump or his administration risks being stopped at the border. It happens to the Canadians. I don't know if with the double citizenship it will be different. I will find out soon,” said Young, who is both Canadian and American citizen.
The European tour will begin on June 8 and will end on July 13, while the American dates will start from August 8, with an event scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl on September 15.
Recently, Neil Young shared the first trailer of the new documentary “Coastal”. The film, shot by his wife Daryl Hannah, is a personal documentary and behind the scenes, who follows Young during the dates of his 2023 tour, offering “a close and intimate look at the life of one of the most iconic songwriters and musicians in history”.

“With 'Coastal' I wanted to highlight the authenticity, opening and vulnerability of Neil as a person, musician and performer,” Hannah said in a press release. “He is pure and honest as few. He is deeply devoted to his artistic muse, which sometimes has made it difficult to capture the songs, given that we never knew what he would play or what tool he would have chosen. But what we managed to capture is magical, reveals truths, feelings and emotions in these hidden jewels, as well as a close portrait of an artist who sounds with the heart, without any artificiality”.
The documentary is flanked by the album “Coastal: The Soundtrack”, consisting of 11 tracks, which sees Young playing guitars, piano and harmonica. The album is available in vinyl, cd and digital format. Here is the tracklist And the cover of “Coastal: The Soundtrack”.
