iako come back with just mesingle out on Friday 6 February for Island Records/Universal Music Italia, and it does so by choosing a more collected, less exposed, almost restrained shape. A song that does not seek affirmation but works on the gap, on the difficulty of remaining in relationship when language seems not to be enough.
just me marks the beginning of a new phase in the Venetian artist's career, but without programmatic declarations or loud skin changes. It's a silent transition, moving from more controlled writing and a sound that prefers suspension to resolution.
iako and only me: a writing that remains in the middle
The song moves on a hypnotic and measured downbeat, built around guitar arpeggios and discreet electronic interventions, which emerge intermittently. The production never pushes forward, but remains balanced, leaving room for the voice, which becomes the true emotional center of the song.
iako he sings with a soft, almost confidential tone, crossing a nocturnal and melancholy atmosphere that only opens at times. There is no obvious climax, nor a chorus meant to release the tension. just me it remains deliberately unfinished, like an interrupted conversation or a sentence left half-finished.
The text also follows this logic. He doesn't try to explain, he doesn't look for solutions, but remains within the complexity of human relationships, between the desire to get closer and the fear of exposing himself. It is a writing that accepts imperfection, which proceeds through attempts and stumbles, as the artist himself suggests when he admits the difficulty of making himself understood in the rush to say something true.
In this sense, just me it's not a song of answers but of permanence. It remains within the fragile space of bonds, between cities that change without fanfare and relationships that struggle to find a common language.
A path that passes from international comparison to a return to Italian
Originally from Venice, iako builds his own path between songwriting and imagery linked to English club culture. Having moved to London in 2015, he worked for years in close contact with the British music industry as an author, session musician and producer, developing an open and transversal approach.
The first EP arrived in 2018, but it was with his return to Italy in 2021 that his research took a more direct and personal direction, thanks to the choice to write in Italian. The singles released in the following years attracted the attention of Island Recordswith whom he began a stable collaboration.
In 2024 he released the EP Open Skyscraper and participates as featuring a NEW ME in the album MAYA Of MACEtogether with Rkomi And Bresh.
With just me, iako now opens a new chapter made of unstable and suspended emotional territories. A beginning that does not promise definitive turning points, but gives a glimpse of a path still in motion, destined to continue during 2026 with new music.
