Luca 'O Zulù Persicovoice and pen of 99 Possereleases the album Violent (The Disc Stormdistribution Believe). The album, available in digital stores from January 9, 2026is created together with the multi-instrumentalist Caterina Bianco.
Violent it is a concept album that collects and tells the evolution of the solo project of 'O Zulu. The opera is divided into three acts. Each of them is dedicated to a decade of the artist's human and musical journey. The first act spans the years with i 99 Posse until the events of Genoa 2001. The second tells of the crisis, the rebirth and the return to the stage. The third act opens with the birth of the son, moment in which 'O Zulu finds freedom and lightness, letting himself be guided by the pure pleasure of making music.
The album was born thanks to the meeting with the producer and multi-instrumentalist Caterina Biancoengaged in audiovisual research with the collective Headlights and currently touring with Tropic. His artistic production with Michele De Finis And Antonio Dafe underlines the meaning of the lyrics of 'O Zulu. The atmospheres are now more minimal, now more articulated, respecting the words. From a sound point of view, the songs are sometimes symphonic, sometimes electronic, accompanied by the violin and synths of the same White.

The album “Violent” according to 'O Zulù
Speaking of Violent, Luca 'O Zulù Persico states: “I've spent my life trying to find the words. Today I discover the importance of silence. I've spent my life trying to make words stronger with song form, with beats, with arrangements. Today I explore the violence of my words when you remove all the superstructure and let them vibrate, free, in a soundscape painted layer by layer by the violin and synths of Caterina Bianco, who accompanies them without setting limits”.
For the artist, “Violent is the common thread that binds my words in a work that I wanted to divide into three acts because three decades have passed since the beginning of this story and because at the end of each decade something happens that influences, changing it, my writing. Punctually“.
'O Zulu continues: “Each act therefore contains the writings of that decade. The first retraces the years of enthusiasm, struggles and success with the 99 Posse, up to the events of Genoa 2001. The second tells of the crisis and rebirth: the exit from the group, the trips to Palestine, Iraq and Kurdistan, the addictions, the margins, the rediscovery of love and finally the return to the stage. The third opens with the birth of my son Raul, and as a direct consequence, with the explosion of unprecedented creative freedom in my artistic life. It ends together with the “Covid emergency”.
Luca 'O Zulù Persico concludes: “Violent is a journey to rediscover published words, which starts from unpublished words (to date) almost as if it wanted to tell the story that led me there. Violent is the opportunity to tell the B side of the journey, the story of that restlessness, of that annoyance, of that sense of unease that has always accompanied me but which gradually becomes better and better defined until in the end, which is also the beginning of this journey, the very figure of my writing”.
