Pollstarwhich collects data on the live music industry, has released the ranking of the 10 highest-grossing tours in the world in 2024.
As expected, in first place is Taylor Swift's Eras Tour which this year grossed over a billion dollars (around 950 million euros). Added to the billion-plus grossed in 2023, it makes the Eras Tour the most economically successful tour ever (it closed on December 8th in Vancouver, the last of the 149 dates made over 21 months).
In second place are Coldplay, who achieved the highest grossing ever for a band and who sold 10.3 million tickets, a record figure. Also in the top 10 are Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and the Rolling Stones.
After the forced stop of 2020 and 2021, the concert industry is constantly growing globally. If in 2019, the last year before Covid, the total takings of the 100 most successful concerts were equal to 5549 million dollars, in 2022, 2023 and 2024 they rose respectively to 6280, 9169 and 9501 million, with a marked acceleration in the last two years.
