“We all face challenges that keep us up at night, but despite these obstacles, we always find a way to overcome them and fall asleep once again,” she says
Goyo is not letting anything stop her from reaching the crown.
On Friday, the Colombian musician released her empwering, rock-leaning single “Insomnia,” along with its fiery music video.
“It’s a powerful track featuring strong guitar sounds and beats that will resonate with listeners on a deep level,” Goyo tells Rolling Stone. “The lyrics serve as an affirmation of defense, almost like a mantra for obtaining victory.”
The Sam Brave-directed video sees Goyo in a red outfit, carrying a lit staff through a city as she sings and raps about “everyone wanting to come for her” and how she was “born to shine.” The singer’s mother, daughter, and niece all make apperances in the video.
“We all face challenges that keep us up at night, but despite these obstacles, we always find a way to overcome them and fall asleep once again,” the former ChocQuibTown member added. “The song captures the resilience and strength within us all, as we navigate through life’s trials and tribulations.”
“Insomnia” marks Goyo’s first single of the year after dropping “Tumbao” last October. She also joined Flor de Toloache on “Brinda por Ella” and Rayama on “Besos Ricos.” Her last full length project arrived in 2022 with En Letra de Otra, which featured “Na Na Na.”
“To stand here and to say ‘I can do something’ is to understand that another little girl from El Choco might feel like she can do something also, because she saw me and knows that if I can do it, so can she.” she told Rolling Stone in 2022. ” To me, that’s moving, and it’s super-important.”
