GINEVRA, THE NEW ALBUM “FEMINA”
Produced by Francesco Fugazza, Marco Fugazza And Domenico Finizio, Female it is an intimate and collective album centered on the theme of femininity which GENEVA she dedicates it both to herself, to the most important women in her history, to those victims of violence and to the women she doesn't know personally but who, like her, fight every day to have a more equal society.
In this album, women and their stories are the protagonists and in which the singer-songwriter's reflections on the complexity of 30 years, the love for the beauty of nature, the acceptance of one's identity and the intertwining of human relationships find space.
With Female, GENEVA he wanted to research and represent also and above all his idea of femininity, in all its facets, also through aesthetic imagery, representing and telling the way in which he himself feels and is a woman.
The Turin singer-songwriter talks about herself as a woman, daughter, sister, niece, future mother, partner, aunt, rebellious child but also adult, wise, warrior and much more, mixing strength and fragility.
GENEVA he says: «If I look back at the work of the last two years and the first word that comes to mind is: I listen.”
«Honestly I can't say I'm very good at listening but this time I did it deeply. And what did I listen to? Women's voices. Articles, books, podcasts, albums, exhibitions, films, demonstrations, laughter, tears. Stories of authors, journalists, musicians, friends, sisters, my grandmother's voice for the last time and perhaps for the first time mine too.”
«And the more I listened, the more I fell in love with our voices, and the more I fell in love, the angrier I became at the daily attempts to silence and tear us down. All this was the driving force that led me to write the new album.”
