After years of world tours and three albums with the band, Greeping reinvents herself, exploring new creative ideas without limits. The album is a journey into a lively and engaging alternative pop, in which the artist follows every creative impulse, collaborating with over thirty musicians on two continents. “Holy, Holy” is the first shared single.
Geordie Green (guitarist and singer of black midi) announces his debut solo album, “The New Sound“, and shares the first single ‘Holy, Holy’ along with the video directed by Ethan and Tom. After three extraordinary albums with black midi, the latest of which, “Hellfire”, was released in 2023, and almost five years of non-stop world touring, Geordie Greep found the time to record his first solo album, “The New Sound”, an album that allowed him to explore creative ideas like never before.
The album stands out for its unique atmospheres and fascinating narratives, ranging from vivid images to surreal moments that challenge the listener's expectations. From crowded streets to strange clubs and museums, “The New Sound” transports you to a world where imagination and reality constantly mix. Greep describes the album as an emotional journey, full of musical colors that range from soul to salsa, passing through theatrical moments. Each track offers a unique, engaging and unpredictable experience. More than thirty musicians participated in the making of the album, on two continents, in São Paulo and London. Geordie Greep: “We had already recorded some songs elsewhere, but they didn’t work, so we re-recorded them with new people. Half of the songs were made in Brazil, with local musicians gathered at the last minute. They had never heard anything I had done before, they were just interested in the demos I had prepared. The recording was all done in one, two days maximum. Then we did the overdubs later, in London”. What now? Could we see “The New Sound” as a live concept or will the album remain forever in our collective imagination? Greep: “My plan is to do a ‘Keith Jarrett thing,’ have a different live group in a different venue and take advantage of the fact that we’ll never do it the same way.” How can it ever be ‘the same’ with Greep at the helm?
