Passage EP, for the Gama Bomb: four songs for just under a quarter of an hour of Thrash Metal Metal Allegrotto and very fast, as always. And, as always, ours have fun a world, fortunately, managed to maintain a certain authority in doing it.
The existence of this “Necronomicon Automon” is justified by an surplus of material composed for the previous album, “Bats”; As far as they tell us, these four songs were too good not to be published. Although the affirmation can be redundant, we can say that the songs are not actually bad, indeed, despite the fact that it is the 'usual' thrash full of pop quotes and sagaci texts to which Gama Bomb have now used to us. Thanks to the very reduced duration, you do not get to have that – anhiloro – typical feeling of 'usual stuff' that can happen to perceive by listening to their Full Length several times. For the rest, what to say: the execution is as always energetic and muscular, the shot is tall, the voice of Philly Byrne is always high and personal, the refrains are printed in the head in an instant (and they forget the moment after, it must be said), and some songs is better than the other: we start with “Nunchuks!”, Fast and without introduction, thrash to the American with a rhythmic performance and a refrain First files to concerts, even if a little obvious. We move on to the Anthrax school riff proposed by “Intor the Deceiver”, certainly more interesting in its progressions. The song has an excellent riffing, an interesting vocal melody, and tasty solos. “Necropanzer” plays to recall Maidenian plots (moreover more classic moments had come out even in the previous discs), it holds a vaguely more sustained rhythm, and stands out for an interlude narrated on a bass bed that seems ready to explode but which in the end leaves us a little dry mouth. He closes the piece that gives the title to the EP, even this enough, fast, not without a halo of already heard, but with a beautiful tension of the guitars to support everything, surely the song is the best of the four, thanks also to a very fun concluding part.
In short, it is not exactly the compositions that keep the Gama Bomb vessel, as much as the attitude and the true goodness, the ability to write mini hymns so at a limited expiry, but which on the moment have their impact. It does not remain very much, but they work as long as they are there. Now we wait to see how the compositions for the next disc will place themselves in their repertoire.
