Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, Joe Hahntogether with the new members Emily Armstrong [della band acclamata dalla critica Dead Sara] as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain [autore/produttore di canzoni per G Flip, Illenium, One OK Rock] as drummer – present their first new music in seven years.
The iconic band has shared a series of news for fans: a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” and a new video, as well as a global livestream performance (available only for 24 hours here ), and the launch of 6 concerts in arenas in Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota as part of the From Zero World Tour.
These surprises announce the arrival of the LINKIN PARK's first album since 2017, FROM ZERONovember 15th.
Without any expectations, Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn hung out for the past few years like any group of old friends would. Rather than “trying to restart the band,” their instinct was simply to spend more time together and reconnect with the creativity and camaraderie that had been at the core of their friendship since college. During this time, they invited various friends and collaborators to join them in the studio; among the guests, they found a special affinity with Armstrong and Brittain. A natural chemistry drew these musicians back into its gravitational pull as they logged more and more hours in the studio. It was the sound of longtime musicians rediscovering the irrepressible energy of a new beginning. And so it was taking shape. FROM ZERO.
Speaking about the new era, Shinoda said: “Before LINKIN PARK, our first band name was Xero. The album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we are on. Sonically and emotionally, it is about the past, present and future – embracing our signature sound, yet fresh and vibrant. It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and long-time bandmates, our friends, our family and our fans. We are proud of what LINKIN PARK has become over the years and are excited for the journey that lies ahead.”.
From the very first bars, “The Emptiness Machine” channels the DNA of LINKIN PARK, harnessing the explosive energy of the band while maintaining the distinctive features of their immediately identifiable and inimitable sound. A chameleonic and catchy anthem, in which Shinoda's hypnotic melodies alternate with Armstrong's incandescent choirs, over distorted riffs and dizzying drums.
Shinoda added: “The more we worked with Emily And Colinthe more we liked their world-class talent, their company, and the things we were creating. We feel really strong with this new lineup and the vibrant, energetic new music we’ve created together. We’re weaving together the sonic commonalities we’re known for and exploring new ones.”
Ultimately, with FROM ZEROthe band seeks to harness the purest energy of its past, present and future. The new era has officially begun.
