Pollstar has announced the ranking of the 10 most profitable tours of the year, and as expected the first place goes to Taylor Swift's “The Eras Tour”. With a record taking of over 1 billion dollars in 2024 alone (around 950 million euros) and more than a billion already raised in 2023, the American pop star's mammoth tour confirms itself as the most economically successful tour ever. After 149 dates and 21 months of shows, “The Eras Tour” concluded on December 8 in Vancouver, leaving an indelible mark on the history of live music.
Coldplay placed second with the “Music of the Spheres Tour”, which marks an epochal milestone for the British band, which has become the most profitable in the history of concerts. With over 10.3 million tickets sold, Chris Martin and company have consolidated their status as a global live giant.
The top 10 also sees the return of big names in rock and pop: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, the Rolling Stones and Madonna join contemporary icons such as P!nk, Bad Bunny and Zach Bryan, demonstrating the diversity and vitality of the post-pandemic music industry.
After the long forced break of 2020 and 2021, the concert sector has started to grow exponentially again. If in 2019 the 100 most profitable tours had generated 5549 million dollars, global takings rose to 6280 million in 2022, 9169 million in 2023 and 9501 million in 2024, confirming an unprecedented recovery trend.
