Franz Ferdinand today shared the video for “Night Or Day”, the latest song from their new studio album, The Human Fearwhich will come out Friday 10 January 2025 via Domino. The band will be in concert on February 20, 2025 at the Fabrique in Milan (soldout).
The song is accompanied by an imaginative, dramatic and aesthetically stunning black and white video, directed by Rianne Whitewho stated:
'This song emulates the turbulent, transcendent immensity of feelings that live and breathe between four walls. Born with Franz Ferdinand in their Scottish studio, where they recorded it, “Night or Day” has become a powerful meeting of images and sounds, all captured on 16mm black and white film. These are the kind of storms we dance in!'
Alex Kapranos added: Life will never be easy, but we will make sure we live it to the fullest, night and day. From night to day. We collaborated with the talented Rianne White to capture the drama-noir of the environment in which we recorded this and the rest of the LP. It has a sensitivity and energy that exploded in that space, giving a glimpse of the world in which we made our music. A storm shakes the room and boom… Scotland's dark heart beats loudly! Filmed entirely on location at AYR Studios.
Produced together with Mark Ralphwho had already collaborated with them for the 2013 album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, the album shows Franz Ferdinand in form, lively and full of energy, aiming without hesitation at the more pop side, in classic Franz style.
Recorded at AYR Studios in Scotland, the 11 songs of The Human Fear they all reference the deepest human fears, and how overcoming and accepting them guide and define our lives.
