It will be presented in preview out of competition at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, “Francesco De Gregori. Nevergreen”, a film by Stefano Pistolini, who will also arrive in cinemas from 11 to 17 September as a special event for Nexo Studios.
Ten months ago, in his making music, Francesco De Gregori has chosen an unusual starting point: he decided to perform for a month, every evening, in a small Milanese theater, the out off, bringing the least known songs of his repertoire on stage – or even the “perfect strangers”, the Nevergreen, never rose to the status of “evergreen” – with a different scaletta each time and some guests.
To this project, which already had the traits of theHappeningDe Gregori has decided to add an additional level: make a movie. Not a celebratory biopic, nor a simple concise film, but a work capable of immersing yourself in his music, moving among the songs, in the penumbra of the theater, in the experience of evenings and in improvised encounters.
Also on Ondarock we wanted to give space to some of these precious songs “Nevergreen” by De Gregori in this commented playlist.

The project was shared with Stefano Pistolini, with whom De Gregori had already worked in the past, in the documentaries “Rotta windows” (2013) and “Falegnami & Philosophers” (2022, together with Antonello Venditti). Together they moved to a film that finds his story in the cyclical time of the long residence of twenty concerts and, above all, in the sounds and voices of Francesco and of the artists who have divided the stage with him, without space for ritual or self -pressing statements.
The result is “Nevergreen”, a work that aspires to experiment with a new form of storytelling between music and images, intertwining them to make it a story in itself. With the participation of Malika Ayane, Elisa, Jovanotti, Ligabue, Zucchero.
Fifty years after the release of “Rimmel”, his fourth studio album became a milestone of the Italian songwriter, Francesco De Gregori will return to the stage with a tour that will cross the country from north to south. Published in 1975, “Rimmel” has deeply marked entire generations with iconic songs such as “Pablo”, “Goodnight Fiorellino” and the title track “Rimmel”. On the occasion of this special anniversary, the album will be performed in full in each concert, flanked by a selection of other songs by the singer -songwriter, different from evening on the evening, to make each appointment unique.
The public will thus be able to immerse themselves in the atmospheres and emotions of “Rimmel” and rediscover the vast repertoire of De Gregori in a variety of contexts: from the suggestions of the theaters to the power of the buildings, up to the intimacy of the clubs, where direct contact between stage and audience creates a close and authentic experience.
