What if 2026 is also another horrible year for drummers? 2025, if you remember (but if you do, review here), was not easy for the world of skins and drums. Between arguments, dismissals and band changes, the rhythm section of many rock bands has been largely revolutionized.
We have just entered the new year, but here comes the first change. Jay Weinberg has left Suicidal Tendencies.
The drummer – who was shown the door by Slipknot in 2023 for a “creative decision” – joined Suicidal Tendencies in 2024. “An honor and a privilege”, his words of the times.
Now, after a year and a half with the band, Weinberg has decided to take a step back: «With my wife we are expecting our first child and I am dedicating time to projects that I am passionate about, a series of new collaborations, completing my home studio and working on a series of things that I cannot reveal to you yet».
The drummer continues: «It's been an incredible year and a half of concerts with Suicidal Tendencies. You picked me up when I was down and gave me the opportunity to really understand the meaning of a message like You Can't Bring Me Down at a time when I really needed it. I can never thank you enough.”
«I can't imagine my life as a drummer without the enormous influence that Suicidal Tendencies had on me. Some of my favorite drummers are part of this band's history and it was an honor to add me to this list.”
