Conceive music in a completely new dimension, in which culture becomes a meeting space. In this space, the artists and the public are not separate identities, but protagonists of the same stage. Imagine a festival that combines songwriting, electronics and sounds from the Mediterranean. Family sounds and others to decipher. Give a place, then, to your imagination. Sicily, Agrigento, the Valley of the Temples. Now stop imagining, because all this is already reality, and it is called Festivalle.
The ninth edition of Festivalle comes to life from 7 to 10 August, in the beating heart and full of history of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento. Like every year, Festivalle is made creative space, in which the undisputed protagonist is music and its thousand shades. Difficult to get bored, then, with such a landscape. A festival that over the years has attracted more and more people, from every place in Sicily, and even beyond. This is demonstrated by the line up, every year increasingly rich.
Four days of music and digital arts, in the capital of Italian culture, combining legends and new international stars, from Vinicio Capossela to the Arab Acid. Festivalle goes beyond music, transforming itself into a cultural immersion, enriched by unique locations, such as the Tuff Cava della Valle dei Templi.
Just to name some names: the line up of the ninth edition starts with Vinicio Capossela who will be the protagonist of the opening of this edition on August 7, on the stage of the Tuff Cava. Capossela will bring on stage an intertwining of influences that embraces folk and jazz, the author's song and Italian popular music, enriched by touches of blues and suggestions from the Mediterranean and the Balkans.
Space also at the Misti, soul, jazz and groove mix of the American group The Fearless Flyers, which on August 10 will perform in their first (and unique) given in Italy, offering the public a sound that shouts powerful grooves, tight compositions and instrumental virtuosity. Also on the same evening, the Cinematic Orchestra will arrive for their exclusive Italian date.
Arab acids also choose festivals as the only Italian stage of their tour: on August 8 the French duo is ready to offer Mediterranean electronics without borders. They will do so by merging oriental rhythms and melodies with techno and acid sounds and integrating elements of Middle Eastern music, such as Gasba, Dabkeh and Raï, reinterpreting them through typical techno tools, such as Beatbox and Bassline.
Techno and Electronics will enchant the Valley of the Temples, on August 9, with Carl Craig, a record producer and US DJ, central figure of the Techno scene of Detroit and pioneer in the innovation of electronic music. On stage it is ready to bring a set that unites Jazz, Soul and Deep House in a unique and experimental sound experience.
But the line-up does not stop there. Largo to the R&B sounds of ADI Oasis, to the high short jazz and its band and the Brazilian songwriter of Rogê. The grand finale is entrusted to the Berlinese crew Toy Tomics: in the console there will be Kusto and Sam Ruffillo. If you want to enjoy the sunset, perhaps in the shade of the Temple of the Dioscuri, the concerts of Cherise, one of the most promising soul voices of the English panorama, and Alessio Bondì, a Sicilian songwriter and guitarist in balance between traditional suggestions and contemporary electronic suggestions, think about it.
Of course, for those who want to do the small hours and stay still awake at dawn, the show thinks about it The awakening of the godstheatrical work curated by the director and composer Marco Savatteri, a dreamlike path between myth, music and theater with over 40 performers. Just to not miss anything.
