«People saw the leader Francesca and said “but what does he do?”. I had taken steps backwards to the point that I felt like a couple's ghost writer. I feel that space has been freed up to reclaim my visions of the world.”
Fausto Lama says it in an interview with Corriere della Sera on the occasion of the publication of the first solo single after the end of Coma Cose. It's called So much so and expresses, the musician writes in a press release, «how I have always felt: never fair enough by standards, never social enough, never comfortable enough in accepting my limits. And while I think and write it, this strange year spent in apnea goes away… until I lose myself, but fortunately also until I find myself again.”
The song also talks about a person who has “kicked his way through school”. Is it California (Francesca Mesiano), ex in life and in the group? «Of course it's her», says the musician (real name Fausto Zanardelli) to Courier. «It all starts from sincerity and the need not to hide: I feel like a singer-songwriter and therefore I talk about my experience. Leaving that topic unsolved would have been a defeat as an author. This song responds to the need to tell me that I exist. And it also helps me to desecrate gossip. I speak through music and not by responding to comments and what I read. It's my way of saying “hi, how are you?”.
Regarding the end of the group, Fausto Lama explains that «the project had already collapsed on a creative level. We said that Molten lifereleased after Sanremo 2025, would have been their last album together. The most important thing was to protect the couple, shut out the world and say enough to the artistic project. Then we realized that music was what kept us together and that the feeling had already faded. Mixing love and music is very dangerous. At a certain point they merge, one becomes the simulacrum of the other and you no longer know what you are in love with: a song, a projection.”
As is known, two concerts in the arenas of Milan and Rome were announced and then canceled in October 2025. «They had been decided as the closing party of the project when there was still serenity between us. Then the energy and desire to build a story disappeared: we removed ourselves from social media, there was no longer any participation. We have lost the finish line in our heads and hearts and we have lost ourselves. When you break up after a decade, you are overwhelmed by so many feelings that the idea of concerts ends up in last place. I'm sorry for those who bought the ticket, but I hope they appreciate the coherence and sincerity.”
After the first crisis, sung in Sanremo 2023 in The farewell«there was a renewed enthusiasm. And perhaps for this reason, this time everything was so fast. The wedding had been an occasion, but in the end life took its toll (…) Coma Cose exist with me and Francesca. Without one it would be karaoke. We don't rule out returning one day, after a journey in which we will feel like we have reclaimed our people, both musical and social: we are proud of what we have done.”
So much so it is the first of a series of songs that Fausto Lama intends to publish. «In September» he says in the press release «I closed myself with some musician friends in a farmhouse in the woods, among the Piedmontese hills, and new songs were born spontaneously, sometimes raw, sometimes reflective, sometimes cynical, something that hadn't happened to me for a long time. As I finish them, I want to share them with you.”
