The world of culture, and of electronic music in particular, loses one of its most relevant figures: Sergio Ricciardone, founder and artistic director of the C2C festival of Turin, among the European excellences of the Electro scene, has disappeared at 53 years due to a sudden disease. His death leaves a void difficult to fill in the international music scene, but his legacy is indelible.
Ricciardone has transformed the Piedmontese capital into a real capital of electronic and experimental music, bringing the C2C to levels of international notoriety. Under his guide, the Festival has become a beacon for cutting -edge sound enthusiasts, attracting some of the greatest names in the sector, including Aphex Twin, Franco Battiato, Thom Yorke, Kraftwerk, Arca, James Blake and Caribou, just to name a few. C2C is not only a festival, but a sound experience that challenges such boundaries, an essential point of reference for those who intend to explore new musical dimensions.
In addition to his activity of organization and coordination of the C2C, Ricciardone has collaborated with prestigious brands and cultural institutions, contributing to the realization of projects with a great impact, such as the curation of the musical schedule for the relaunch of the Officine Grandi Reparations (Le Ogr) in 2017, on behalf of the CRT Foundation. His ability to anticipate tendencies and his innovative vision have left a profound mark, not only in the music scene, but also in the Italian cultural fabric.
C2C Festival continues to represent his vision of music that is not satisfied with the conventions, but that challenges, experiences and continually renews his languages. The note of the C2C Festival team expresses the pain for loss, but also a clear message of continuity: “Your vision will continue to illuminate our path, your charisma to guide us in difficulties”. With the disappearance of Ricciardone, a chapter closes, but his inheritance will continue to live in the sounds, in the projects, and in the infinite possibilities he has opened for the music of today and tomorrow.
