Evan Dando, singer-songwriter and founder of the Lemonheads, was admitted to hospital on Thursday to apparently undergo psychiatric treatment.
The news came on the heels of another, again concerning Dando. Who, a fan said on journalist Tony Ortega's Substack, would have sent an explicit video of himself to the woman, who at the moment remained anonymous behind the nickname “Dawn”.
The events, Dawn said, would have occurred in October 2025, when the fan would have written to Dando through Instagram DMs to congratulate him on the new album of unreleased Lemonheads, Love Chantthe first since the 2006 debut album, The Lemonheads.
To which, Dando allegedly replied: “Cool, sorry, I'm an exhibitionist.” And Dawn, judging by the response, would have interpreted it as false modesty, replying: «Never apologize for being yourself, my friend. Always be uncompromising. And yourself.” Except, the next day, Dawn received an unsolicited video of Dando masturbating, probably in a basement. «You can see the penis, the face. It's really him. And it is filmed from a strange angle.”

The next day, Dawn would receive another explicit message from Dando, similar in content but different in setting. Followed by the text: «Ok sorry, thanks, I just have to vent. HI”.
“Evan Dando has struggled with mental health problems since childhood,” he told Rolling Stone US a representative of the artist following his hospitalization. “He has been admitted to a nearby hospital, and is currently receiving the expert care of doctors and mental health professionals.”
Dando had previously spoken in detail about his mental health in his recently published autobiography Rumors of My Demisewhere he also spoke about his long-standing substance abuse without filters.
