Circles is the title of the new album of unreleased songs by Erica Mouavailable from November 15, 2024. The album, consisting of 11 tracks, is released digitally and in physical format: vinyl and CD.
It is the seventh album in the discography of Erica Mou. Also in this case, the artist gives central importance to the words and themes he addresses in the lyrics. Circles (label: Maremadredistribution: ADA Music Italy) is proposed as a concept album, which describes a journey of growth and discovery. This path must deal with the circularity of time, a circle that never closes completely: similar events and relationships recur, yet we find ourselves different.
“The first and last songs hold out their hands to describe a circle”, he says Erica Mou. “In between, the desire to shed, a chess game between love and coherence, a promise of care, the deception of thirty years, returning to live in the place from which one had fled, the confusion of a village festival , a secular faith, a migration that doesn't follow the heat, words that get stuck”. For the artist, “each song is a ring, a link in a necklace. We return to where we started, finding ourselves different, holding on to the voice that preserves the traces of the journey we have travelled. The sounds follow the same direction as the lyrics, recorded in a live dimension, almost as if the moment of birth of the songs could be photographed, retaining their truth”.

The album opens with Motherwhich represents a narrative link between the book One thing you will hate me for published on September 13, 2024and this new recording work. It ends with Song for the me that wasa letter to herself that invites us to reflect on the past with acceptance and forgiveness. In the other tracks, Heather talks about the uncertainty of adulthood and the pressure of expectations. Imagine a dialogue between God and a woman. It reflects on the cyclical nature of life and the importance of change, in rebuilding a sense of completeness.

The songs were born during an artistic residency at Petrella Theatre Of Longiano (FC), in collaboration with Spring And Flavia Massimotwo musicians who have long accompanied the artistic path of Erica Mou.
The lyrics and music are by Erica Mouwho also produced the songs. The album was played and arranged by Erica Mou, Flavia Massimo And Spring. Recording and mixing were done by Fabio Cardone at Petrella Theatre Of Longiano And I study The Spheres Of Montesilvano. Burning is by Giovanni Versari at The Majesty.
