After the concerts at the Teatro Petrella in Longiano (FC), at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome and at the Teatro Forma in Bari, Erica Mou's tour continues for the presentation of “Cerchi”, her new album of unreleased songs released last November 15th.
Seventh of his discography, “Cerchi” is an album of eleven tracks that describes a journey of growth and discovery, which stumbles over the circularity of time, a circle that never closes completely but in which events and relationships recur similar and find us different, in a profound reconciliation with oneself.
The album opens with “Madre”, a narrative bridge between his recent book “Una cosa per la mi odierai”, released last September 13th by Fandango Libri and this new work, closing with “Canzone per la me che sono sia ”, a letter to herself that invites us to reflect on the past with acceptance and forgiveness. Erica talks about the uncertainty of adulthood and the pressure of expectations, of an imaginary dialogue between God and a woman, reflecting on the cyclical nature of life and the importance of change, in the reconstruction of a sense of completeness.
The songs were all born during an artistic residency in collaboration with Molla and Flavia Massimo, two musicians who have long accompanied Erica's artistic journey.
“The first and last songs stretch out their hands to describe a circle,” says Erica Mou, “In the middle, the desire to shed, a chess game between love and coherence, a promise of care, deception of thirty, returning to live in the place from which one had fled, the confusion of a village festival, a secular faith, a migration that does not follow the heat, words that get stuck. Each song is a ring, a link in a necklace. We return to where we started, finding ourselves different, holding on to the voice that preserves the traces of the journey we have travelled.
Erica Mou is an artist who gives words an indispensable centrality, always with a profound elegance. The variety of musical expressions ranges from Northern European pop to songwriting with folk undertones. He has received many important awards for songwriting, including the Mia Martini Critics Award and the Radio TV Press Room Award at the Sanremo Festival (2012) and the Nilla Pizzi Award (2022). Some of his compositions are included in the soundtracks of the films “I Baci Mai Dati” by Roberta Torre (2010), “Third Person” (2013) a film by Oscar-winning director and producer Paul Haggis, “Una Piccola Impresa Meridionale” ( 2013) by Rocco Papaleo, (for which he received a nomination for the David di Donatello for Best Original Song); he writes the unpublished “The white lie” for the film of the same name by Giovanni Virgilio (2015).
“Cerchi” was presented with numerous reports and interviews on radio and television programs, such as “Radio 2 Social Club”, broadcast on Rai Radio2 and Rai2, “Paparazzi” on Rai Italia, “Save the Date” on Rai5, “Di Tuesday” on LA7 and on RaiNews24, on “La nota del giorno”, “Il mondo non sufficient” and “Plot Machine” on Rai Radio1, “Thanks for the Flowers” on Rai Radio2, “La lingua batte” on Rai Radio3 live from Più libri liberi, Rai Isoradio, in the GR of Rai Radio2, at “Capital Records” of Radio Capital, Radio Capodistria, Radio Rock, Radio InBlu, Mondoradio TuttiFrutti, Novaradio Città Futura, RID 96.8, Radio Dolomiti, Radio Roma Sound, Radio Bari and many others.
