The Emmy-winning series is set to return to Hulu in April
The revolution is about to begin in the new trailer for the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, set to premiere April 8 on Hulu.
With the adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s novel feeling more unsettlingly prescient than ever, the new trailer finds Elisabeth Moss’ June Osborne setting out to finally take down the oppressive government of Gilead. “We’re just two lunatics going into Gilead on a wing and a prayer,” June’s husband, Luke (O-T Fagbenle) tells her at one point.
To which June replies with ferocious certainty, “They will never see us coming.”
While June looks like she’s preparing to undertake that mission alongside Luke, the clip also shows her reuniting with her former lover, Nick (Max Minghella). Elsewhere, June’s former overlord and foe, Serena Joy Watford (Yvonne Strahovski), tries to make sense of her role in this new landscape, and perhaps even bring reform to Gilead.
The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale will also find Samira Wiley’s Moira joining June and Luke in the resistance, while Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) and Aunt Lydia (Ann Down) reckon with their pasts and roles in propping up the Republic of Gilead.
The sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale arrives nearly three years after the show’s fifth season aired. The cast for the show’s swan song is also set to feature Madeline Brewer, Amanda Brugel, Sam Jaeger, Ever Carradine, and Josh Charles.
The Handmaid’s Tale has enjoyed a wildly successful run since its debut in 2017. It won eight Emmy Awards for its first season, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actress in a Drama for Moss, and Supporting Actress in a Drama for Dowd.
