El Galactic Festival of Baustelle
“It is not impossible to think another world” cit. Go like this
There are concerts that are only concerts, and then there are projects like El Galactico Festivalwhich are born with the ambition to be something more: a declaration of intent, a vision, a political and poetic gesture together. And precisely for this reason, perhaps, it is not possible to judge them only with the measure of the “I liked it“Or“I didn't like it“.
Saturday June 1st I participated in the first of the two evenings atAmphitheater of the Cascine Ernesto de Pascale Of Florenceproduced and organized by Live concertsand I came out with a twofold sensation: on the one hand gratitude for a sincere attempt to propose another way of making music, on the other the feeling that this “other” world was not yet well on fire.
The prologue: salt of salt, between food and visions
The day began in a decidedly singular way: a collective lunch al Theater of salt in Florenceone of those places that bring the memory of those who have crossed them on. There, between a plate of pappa with tomato and the affectionate screams of the oste who announced the courses, we had the opportunity to listen Francesco Bianconi, Rachele Bastreghi and Claudio Brasini speak with frankness of the festival genesis.
El Galactico It was born to fill a void, they said. To return to a music played live, to a focus on the new generations. A festival built as an act of resistance to the plasticification of musical experience. A courageous project, which already at the table showed its fragile and idealist nature – and perhaps precisely for this reason fascinating.
Regarding the choice of line-up they declare:
We wanted to involve not too established artists, talents who are being born. We chose them for both stylistic and aptitude issues, similar to what animated us when we trained.
Finally, a statement on their being there after 25 years of songs:
We resist the time. Continuing to be ourselves, continuing to do what we have always done with the same vision of things, believing in what we have done and do. In 2008 if we had made other choices we would probably have melted.
First live: we start with neoprimitives
First Live: the neoprimitives. Folk psychedelia, dirty and intense sounds, an energy that would have deserved a better sound system. Unfortunately, their performance was penalized by obvious technical problems: covered voices, unbalanced sounds and a non -exceptional live yield. A pity.
Emma Nolde: the most lucid, the truest
The moment that really turned on something came with Emma Nolde. At ease on stage, strong of a personal writing and a voice that knows how to move between fragility and power, was the only one of the day to have a truly centered impact.
He brought a mature, conscious, intense set. Without trying to amaze, without forcing anything, he simply showed who he is. And this was enough to bring it out how The most successful performance of the evening.

The baustelle on stage: something has crossed
When i Baustelle They got on stage, the audience was ready. A big blow to the gong and the show started … it starts with Pesaro, the art of letting go, Giulia as you are, But from the first notes, something “out of tune” has been perceived. Something was not in place. The feeling is that the band was unrelated. Then you enjoy the beauty of their music, the texts that always recall memories, situations, a contemporaneity in the mistake.
And then there was Rachele Bastreghiwhat happened is not known but it is certain that something was wrong. His voice, always emotional column of Baustellewas faint, uncertain, at times completely silent.
On social networks many have noticed itwondering what is going on and complaining about the lack of some of his most iconic moments. In general, the post-conferred social debate highlighted a shared discomfort between those who followed the band for years and has perceived an inexplicable lack of balance on stage.
To this was added a non -negligible organizational problem: Very long queues – Even over an hour and a half – to drink or use bathrooms. A discomfort reported by many spectators and which has influenced the overall experience.
But among these unexpected events, there have also been moments of grace and surprise.
A Holidays of 83 And The white week who echo and still play very well after 25 years.
And then … when Niccolò Contessavoice and mind de Dogshe went on stage to duet with the Baustelle in Nabukodonosortime has stopped. It was the highest and most emotionally loaded moment of the entire evening.
His presence, shy and powerful, has generated a different silence: that of true listening. A performance that made deep ropes vibrate, restoring for a moment the feeling of finding something unrepeatable inside. We hope to see him again soon. The Italian scene needs his voice.
The ending: a pleasant evening, but with the regret of what could have been
It was a pleasant eveningfull of music played live, lived in a sincere atmosphere. But I can't deny that I expected something moreperhaps because my last live of Baustelle – Sexy underwear – It had been practically perfect: compact, elegant, intense, without smudging.
On 1 June, however, I saw an experiment still looking for shape, at times courageous, at times confused. A world that perhaps still does not yet exist, but that i Baustelle However, they try to evoke.
And after all, even for this, it was worth being there.
