Patrick Walden, a historian Babyshambles guitarist, died at the age of 46. The news was released through the official channels of the band led by Pete Doherty, with a short but moved message shared also on Instagram. “It is with deep regret and sadness that we communicate the news of the death of Patrick Walden – reads the press release signed by Peter, Drew, Mik and Adam – we feel very lucky to have known, loved him and to have worked with him. We kindly ask for respect and privacy at this difficult moment”.
At the moment the causes of death are not known. Last March Doherty announced a tour of reunion of the Babyshambles, which at this point appears destined to be canceled.
The Babyshambles were born in 2003, after the removal of Pete Doherty from the Libertines. The initial formation saw Doherty on the voice, Patrick Walden on guitar, Drew McConnell on bass and Gemma Clarke on drums. The record debut arrived in 2005 with “Down in Albion”, which reached the top ten of the British rankings. He was also the only album of the British band in which Patrick Walden participated.
