Two years have passed since “Cracker Island”, the last studio work of the Gorillaz, then followed by a deluxe edition embellished with collaborations with artists of the caliber of Stevie Nicks, Bad Bunny and Beck. Meanwhile, Damon Albarn has not remained with his hands in his hand: in 2023 he brought the Blur back on stage with “The Ballad of Darren”, while this year he made his debut in the world of the work with “The Magic Flute II: La Malédiction”.
Now, however, the focus returns to the virtual band that has revolutionized the pop of the new millennium. In an interview with the French newspaper “Les InRockUPTIBS” in recent days, Albarn confirmed that he was at the final jokes of the new album of the Cartoon Band.
“I am finishing a new album. A work and a Gorillaz album seem to me enough for 2025! Unless someone accuses me of having removed the foot from the accelerator!”
To confirm the announcement also came a post on the band's official Instagram channel: “Ok, here is the big news! I received the confirmation from Jamie (Hewlett) that the album will be released this year and Damon in a recent interview said it will end in six weeks! Excited?”
After the parenthesis Synth-Funk of “Cracker Island”, it will be interesting to find out which direction the new chapter of the Gorillaz saga will take.
