Unique leader
The record return of the Cytotoxin, five years after the previous “Nuklearth”, might seem late, a symptom of a latent inactivity and a compositional laziness that has immobilized the group in recent years. Nothing more different and far from reality.
The five Germans, in fact, took this time to expand their name more than all their name, managing in a widespread and admirable operation with which they have occupied a not indifferent weight in the world death/brutal panorama, ending up making a name and defeating in important live performances even overseas, where ours have recently finished important promotional tour and in America. In all this, then, there was the development and development of “Biography” precisely, new studio work that contains the efforts and ambitions of this tireless nuclear battleship.
Continuing the path of its predecessor, the newcomer continues the refinement process that gradually removed the group from its most instinctive grind roots, in favor of a technical and compositional thickening that has brought together and closer their proposal to a Technical Death Metal with crazy speeds, full of amazing scores to the guitar and on the bass and supported by the best performance of Grimo, Sort of brutal ogre in constant search for the lowest possible shades that you can reach with its hyper-maxiccio growl.
Listening to “Hope Terminator”, “Condemnesia” or “Behind Armored Doors”, you will not be able to remain indifferent to the devastating borders of the band, capable of combining power, atmosphere and melody according to excellent dynamic mergers, albeit partially derivative: the shadow of the Origin, of the Cattle Decapital and the Benighted in fact threateningly on the Sassone Combo, Bet in the first, the use of Forsennati and Dark Sweep Picking and, from the others, a musical style and a immediately recognizable 'blow'.
The musical narrative then continues with the title-track and with “The Everslave”, containing some of the most personal ideas presented today, before moving on to “Eventless Horizon” and “Bulloverdozed”, songs where a hair of mannerism begins to emerge in songwriting, before reaching the end of the path with “from Bitter Rivers” and its less heavy and more melodic inflexions.
Thus ends a work played, recorded and produced with a care and skills now as a first level bands, which is based on its strength on technical and compositional skills certainly uncommon. In short, the cytotoxin fit into a vein in which they seem to have few rivals, despite the fact that the interference of their inspiring bands is still very strong: a pinch of more personality and some effect solution could further raise the level of a reality that continues to grow qualitatively album after album, without fear and sagging along its path.
