Co'sang Dynasty review.
Dynasty marks the return of the Co'sangawaited for more than a decade and loudly called for by the entire rap scene. Among other things, the duo will be live with two concert events in Naples in September (we talked about it here).
Let's move on to the review of the album that we previewed for you.
Co'Sang Dynasty review
We are faced with an album that delves deep into the sound tradition of a genre that needed to Nope And Luke in great shape and, fortunately, the state of grace of the two can be felt from the first song.
There is one creature in the world, Naplesare the Spanish Quarters, the Vele, Vesuvius which overlooks the Gulf with all its majesty and tells the story of the life of these people.
Continue with Flesh and Bone means immersing yourself in the flow of a Luke in 'prime' format with a breathtaking extrabeat, on the east coast production of Pepp 'O RedAnd Nope perfect counterpoint to dictate the flow.
Let's take a tour of the sphere in the Nineties atmosphere of the Bronx, NYC, with It's Never Fernut. Raw R&B that seems to be taken directly from a production house like Ne-Yo, R.Kelly, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child. American influences are a big part of Luchè and in this track, perhaps, they reach their maximum artistic power, supported by an excellent Geeno to production.
Arrived at Chiù Time the first guests also arrive, the Club Dogoand the hand of Don Joe on the production you can feel it. Imagine the wind instruments, trumpets and trombones of Istinto Animale (pre-summer song by Don Joe with Guè, Hernia And Annalisa) and translate everything into this R&B world which, by now, is a certainty, Geeno he can cook very well.
The flow is crazy and the connections between all four protagonists (Luke, Nope, Guè, Jake There Fury) are a godsend of 4/4 bars.
After the dogogang it's time for one of the most innovative and mysterious artists in Italy, Freedwho is entrusted with the task of opening with his melodic voice You make a mistake and you walk away. In this case the presence of sounds coming from the hands and minds of the most active producers of this album is palpable, Geeno And Date Boy Goddesses supported by Toroko which we will find again in another passage later on.
It's the only track, by the way, where the three of them meet together. R&B, very current sounds mixed with first-school rap and classic melodic lines to which Freed he has accustomed us to over the years.
Nu Cuofn 'e Deaf It is constructed in a strange way, in the sense that the first seconds are marked by the soft voice of a child which, immediately after, is interrupted by the almost aggressive rap of Luke And Nope almost as if to say to this same child “step aside and let the adults speak“. The music also contributes to breathing this atmosphere and the incessant breathless beat of Luke amplify everything.
After halfway through the album, the king of rap arrives, Marrakesh. A few bars for him on a classic rap beat provided by the always impeccable Geeno. The change of atmosphere is palpable already from the previous song. Now everything is harder, more raw and much more street. Here we are 'n'mienz a via', taken by the hand by the Co'sang in great shape.
Oh First Post is the opening single of the project, already released last August 2nd and that, now that we are travelling through all the tracks present in the album, we can confirm to be very coherent in sound and atmosphere. Moreover, also in this case the one in charge of the production is Geeno. There is no history, when a project is curated by a few recognizable hands you feel it immediately.
Just like it happened in Nu Cuofn 'e DeafAlso Winning opens with the punchline of this child in celebration followed by the vocal depth of Luke And Nope. They look back, they look at what they have built, what they have lost and gained without regrets or remorse.
In an album desired, carried forward, created and published by two of the most representative rappers of Naples, the prince of modern flow certainly could not be missing, Geographer. Arrives in Lose 'a Capa and becomes the perfect glue between old school rap and new rap.
The melodic part continues even without Emanuel in Like Faith. We return to the east coast and it is easy to understand that this playing field, for Lukemeans playing at home. Almost as if it were on Maradona's pitch in Naples.
The album closes with the title track, Dynastywhich begins in an almost ethereal way. A female voice that takes you directly into flight over the world. The Co'sang with their flow to bring us back down to earth and to act as a counterpoint to these heavenly melodies with the story of their life made of suffering, fall and rise. The greeting of two fathers to the new generation, without frills and without teasing.
How to close the review then? Dynasty of the Co'Sang? Simply saying that the album is consistent in sound from start to finish, it doesn't get lost in frills and gets straight to the point. The hand of the three main producers is felt and it is perfect for the style of Luke And Nope. Everything blends together with the right effectiveness and one can only be proud of the whole project.
