The Karate Kid spinoff will come to an end after six seasons
Cobra Kai is coming to an end. After previously announcing plans to roll out the final season of the Karate Kid spinoff in three parts, Netflix announced Tuesday that the final batch of episodes will premiere on Feb. 13, 2025, with Part 3/The Finale Event. Parts 1 and 2 premiered earlier this year, with each part consisting of five episodes.
“We’re not good at goodbyes … because Cobra Kai never dies!” Netflix added with the announcement, which included a video montage from across the seasons.
The message is perhaps a nod to the creators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald, and Jon Hurwitz comments about wanting to keep the franchise going with more spinoffs. The men previously floated the idea of a Mr. Miyagi prequel.
“The show will end our love for The Karate Kid, but our desire to play in The Karate Kid sandbox doesn’t end,” Schlossberg told The Hollywood Reporter after Part 2. “It’s just that this is a story that really followed the redemption of Johnny Lawrence [played by William Zabka], and that story is going to come to a close. … Whether that’s delving into some of the characters and their pasts or where their future lies ahead, there will definitely be a lot of potential that you’ll see in those last episodes.”
According to the logline and teaser, Part 3 will pick up after the “shocking result in the Sekai Taikai and lead to one last match. “Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai must reckon with their pasts while facing an uncertain future both on and off the mat. Almost 40 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it’s all been leading to this.”
