It will be published on December 20th, exclusively on double vinyl, “Terra ca nun senti – Live in Siracusa with Orchestra Popolare Siciliana” (Narciso Records/Warner Music Italia), the album that collects part of the exciting show that the artist presented on July 15, 2023 at the Greek Theater in Syracuse. A concert that celebrates his homeland, its rich musical heritage, landscapes, people, culture and traditions. On this occasion, Carmen created a project that took shape over the years, reaching another goal: it is the first woman to have created an Orchestra, the Sicilian Popular Orchestraa training designed to preserve, promote and reinterpret the sounds, poems and ancient instruments that make up the island's priceless heritage. The orchestra includes long-standing musicians at its side, supported by popular instrumentalists and classical experts.
With the Sicilian Popular Orchestra, Carmen gave new life to pieces from her repertoire and traditionmany of which are included on the disc. Among these, there are famous songs like Orange flowers, The slope of abandonment, The last kiss, Butter words, My unclebut also more recent compositions such as I wanted to be a rock star And The usual thingsand songs in Sicilian such as Maria Catena, Masino, At the window And Your mother's whorebeyond Cunt and sing And Earth you can't hearwritten by the great Rosa Balistreri, his constant source of inspiration. The concert also included readings on important figures in Italian social and cultural history from Sicily, including the moving reading on Rosa Balistreri and the one on Peppino Impastatoplayed respectively by Donatella Finocchiaro and Giovanni Impastato.
The recording and live project “Earth you can't hear” represents an emotional journey through Carmen's Sicily, told with irony, love, lightness, intensity and a deep sense of gratitude. It is his contribution to the growth and diffusion of Sicilian culture and tradition, with a view to being open to the future, to make this richness an integral part of world music and culture.
The album will be signed by the artist in two special events in Feltrinelli in Rome and Catania. On December 20th Carmen is expected in Rome at 7.00 pm in Feltrinelli in via Appia Nuova and on 21 December at Catania at 5.00 pm in Feltrinelli in via Etnea.
