MusiCares Person of the Year event will also feature Melissa Etheridge, Brandy Clark, Jason Isbell, and many others
Bruce Springsteen, Shania Twain, Jelly Roll, and [dramatic pause] Bon Jovi will all perform at a gala event honoring Jon Bon Jovi next month. The singer will be recognized as MusiCares’ Person of the Year, an honor awarded by the Recording Academy’s nonprofit which provides aid to musicians in need, at an event in Los Angeles on Feb. 2.
The other performers include Brandy Clark, Melissa Etheridge, Goo Goo Dolls, Jason Isbell, Marcus King, the War and Treaty, Måneskin’s Damiano David, and Lainey Wilson. Comedian Jim Gaffigan will host. Gayle King and Kylie Minogue are also set to make appearances.
“I’m looking forward to seeing these talented musicians take the stage for the MusiCares gala,” Bon Jovi said, according to MusiCares’ website. “I’m honored they are able to be with us for such a wonderful night.”
Laura Segura, MusiCares’ executive director, said the organization wanted to shine a light on Bon Jovi’s good deeds. “Bon Jovi has also lent his life’s work to philanthropic efforts that align with the health and human services mission of MusiCares, forever changing the lives of those in need,” she said. “The goal of the Person of the Year gala is to raise funds for MusiCares’ vital services throughout the year and to celebrate the philanthropy and impact of music legends.”
The first MusiCares event took place in 1991 when David Crosby was the honoree. Recent MusiCares Persons of the Year include Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson (2023), Joni Mitchell (2022), Aerosmith (2020), and Dolly Parton (2019).
