Yesterday at the Carnegie Hall in New York a tribute concert was held in Patti Smith. The evening, called for the occasion People Have The Power: A Celebration of Patti Smithhas seen a series of legends of music perform which revisited the catalog of the singer -songwriter.
Among the central moments of the concert, whose 100% of the proceeds were donated to the musical education of the less fortunate young people, there was the performance of Because the night by Bruce Springstreen with Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Steve Jordan, drummer of the Rolling Stones, accompanied by the band of the evening conducted by Tony Shanahan, member of the Band of Patti Smith.
On stage, during the evening, Kim Gordon, Michael Stipe, Matt Beringer of the National, Sharon Van Etten, Ben Harper, Karen or, Angel Olsen, Alison Mosshart of the Kills and also cinema artists such as Scarlett Johansson, Jim Jarmusch and Sean Penn, also performed. Johnny Depp, for example, performed with Flea and Mosshart in Dancing Barefoot.
The evening ended with Patti Smith who took the center of the stage to sing Peaceable Kingdom and then, accompanied by almost all the guests present, People Have The Power.
