«Coldplay is not rock». Bono says it to defend Chris Martin's band in the episode of Music Uncovered on BBC Sounds dedicated to Coldplay.
Bono remembers when he first listened Clocksone of the key pieces of the second album A Rush Of Blood to the Head which made him “raise his fist in the air in a manly, but not aggressive way.”
«Maybe I should say» added the U2 singer «that Coldplay are not a rock band. I hope it's obvious. They have something more interesting, like the Isley Brothers or something. They shouldn't be judged by rock standards… Anger is the river that runs beneath most rock bands. Coldplay's music has a different source and I think that comes across best Clocks».
Martin said some time ago that Coldplay's last real album will be released in 2025 and that they will just tour after that. «Maybe we'll do some collaborations, but Coldplay's catalog will be completed» next year.
The band will return to Italy this summer for four concerts at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on 12, 13, 15 and 16 July. Janelle Monáe and Rose Villain will open the concerts.
