Spotify could be the worst thing that happened to the musicians. In an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens NyheterBjörk spoke of today's world of music and on the relationship between records and concerts in the economy of artists.
«I consider myself lucky because I no longer have to earn by the tours, which is instead the thing that the youngest musicians are forced to do. From this point of view, Spotify is probably the worst thing that musicians have ever happened. The culture of streaming has changed society and a generations of artists ».
But it is still streaming – on Apple Music, not on Spotify – that starting from this night to 4 Italian time we can see a performance by Björk which will then remain available on the platform. AND Cornucopiathe project that has also passed in Italy. The performance was recorded in Lisbon and is presented as “a unique digital animation show, with Sipari on the move and VR images of the 21st century which are transported to a 19th century theater”.
Björk defined it as an “optimistic” post show in which he incites to go beyond protest (“shouting more and stronger no longer works”) and seeking solutions for the climatic crisis. “We can still choose,” he told Zane Lowe in an interview that anticipates the streaming of Cornucopia. “We can still create a new Paris agreement on the climate and this time honor it.”
At this moment Björk is committed to bringing out new ideas for an album. “Given the rhythm with which I work,” he said to Dagens Nyheter“Before dying I will probably make a maximum of five other records.”
