Sydney Sweeney cameos to “have what she’s having” in Hellmann’s commercial
Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan reunited at Katz’s Delicatessen to recreate their iconic When Harry Met Sally scene for a new commercial airing during the Super Bowl.
The actors — who previously teased their reunion on social media — reconvened at the Manhattan meat institution, sitting in the same seats where Ryan’s Sally faked an orgasm while eating in the 1989 rom-com.
Crystal’s Harry acknowledges that outburst in the new ad, noting he was surprised that “they let us back into this place.” After Sally makes the grave mistake of ordering a turkey sandwich at Katz’s, she finds the sandwich bland; thankfully, there’s a bottle of Hellmann’s mayonnaise on the table, which saves the sandwich and sparks another Sally orgasm. “This one’s real,” Harry quips.
As a bonus, the recreation caps off with another Katz’s customer — played by Sydney Sweeney in a surprise cameo — delivering the classic line, “I’ll have what she’s having.”
Speaking to People a week and a half before the Super Bowl ad airs during the Big Game, Crystal said of the reunion, “It was our 35th anniversary of the film, and it’s the first time that we’ve been offered something like that. It was a really fun idea, and the approach was right.”
Ryan added of Hellmann’s, “They were so respectful of the movie and of the scene too. They came to us with just an enormous amount of respect for that, for the source material and for the characters.”
The duo also appeared in a teaser ad for the Super Bowl spot highlighting Sally’s idiosyncratic method of ordering:
