Beyoncé is going home for the holidays, and Houston couldn’t be a more fitting location for the first-ever Cowboy Carter live performances. In a teaser trailer for her upcoming halftime performance during Netflix‘s inaugural NFL Christmas Gameday, the musician decorates a festive cactus with football ornaments while snow falls all around her.
A Cowboy Carter Christmas, as Beyoncé refers to it in the caption of her post, will premiere live on Netflix on December 25. The set will begin midway through the Houston Texans match-up against the Baltimore Ravens, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST at NRG Stadium in Houston.
The first preview of the performance was shared when it was initially announced in November. That clip leaned fully into the football aesthetic with nods to the American themes across Cowboy Carter. It was backed by audio from “Ameriican Requiem,” the opening song from Beyoncé’s eccentric country album.
This new clip reflects a change in the seasons. Beyoncé is dressed head to toe in white with an enormous fur cowboy hat and a shaggy coat cascading around her. With the point of her finger guns, she fires two shots and illuminates the star on top of the prickly plant.
“With Netflix and Beyoncé, the NFL kicks off what is expected to be a new holiday tradition, as Netflix has also announced NFL games for 2025 and 2026,” Netflix shared in November. “Produced by Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment and Jesse Collins Entertainment, this year’s halftime show will be the first live performance of songs from her genre-bending and record-breaking album Cowboy Carter.”
The release also teased special guest features from artists who appear on Cowboy Carter. Beyoncé’s list of collaborators on the album includes Shaboozey, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Linda Martell, Post Malone, and more.
Shaboozey, Martell, Cyrus, and Malone each recently received Grammy Award nominations alongside Beyoncé for their Cowboy Carter collaborations. With the awards ceremony coming up in the new year, it wouldn’t hurt to showcase “Spaghettii,” “II Most Wanted,” and “Levii’s Jeans” at one of Netflix’s most ambitious new events.
