Giulio Nenna returns with new music: Passing By is the new single with which the Milanese composer and producer, known for having co-produced and co-written many songs for Irama, among others, continues his instrumental journey and opens a new chapter of the project In My Past Livesalbum expected for spring 2026.
After Puerta del Sol And In My Past Lives, Passing By arrives as the third stage of an “episode” story that moves with cinematic logic: not a simple sequence of songs, but a narrative divided into chapters, each with a precise theme and imagery.
giulio nenna: A disc in chapters. birth, love, passage
The project develops as a story in which music acts as a script.
The first chapter, Puerta del Solrepresents the birth. It is the beginning of the journey: light, movement, departure, that instinctive energy that sets everything in motion.
The second chapter, In My Past Livesenters the territory ofLove. Here emotions and memories return, the connection with what has been and with what continues to resurface along the way.
With Passing By the story moves to the third chapter, that of death. Not as an end, but as a necessary passage: a surrender, a fading, a moment in which something must vanish so that something else can begin.
Passing By, between Morricone and “western” cinema
On the sound level, Passing By moves as a declared homage to the great Italian tradition of soundtracks, with an inspiration that looks to the expressive minimalism of Ennio Morricone and to a timeless “Western” imagery.
Sweeping electric guitars, suspended harmonies and slow themes build a feeling of enormous space and emotional stillness. It is a music that does not run, but remains, as if it were staring at a landscape and letting the silence speak: solitude, acceptance, transformation.
The visual idea evoked by the song is that of a silent scene: a figure crossing a frozen landscape, time lengthening, the past melting behind. It is the fragile moment between closure and rebirth, the exact point at which identity changes shape.
With Passing By it also opens the way to fourth and final chapter of the project, the one that will anticipate the release of the complete album: In My Past Lives it will be an instrumental journey of nine tracksinspired by memory, time and transformation.
