Available on all digital platforms from Friday 9 January 2026 “Undefined”the first single from Baby Grand Project, project from Padua that blends the sounds of English rock of the 60s with the Brit-pop of the end of the millennium and the subsequent UK Indie scene. The piece, led by the piano of the author Davide – aka BabyGrand – addresses the universal theme of internal contrast, or the feeling of being trapped in an inauthentic reality. Born from a piano improvisation, “Undefined” develops with unconventional but catchy melodic lines, aiming for a liberating effect.
The arrangement and recording, handled by the Studio2Recording of Padua under the guidance of the well-known producer Christopher Bacchusadopt a deliberately lo-fi aesthetic, recovering analogue instrumentation and vintage microphones for a modern sound but with a distinctly retro flavour. The project saw the collaboration of numerous musician friends to enrich the interpretation of the piece.
“Undefined it was born almost by chance, like a simple sequence of chords on the piano on a rainy winter Sunday during the lockdown. I really liked the atmosphere they created, but I had no idea either about the vocal line or the lyrics. In order not to lose it, as had happened too many times in the past, I immediately recorded it with my phone, a rough note among dozens of other audio files. Forgotten for years, I found it while I was on the subway in Berlin: it was enough to listen to those notes again for the vocal line and the lyrics to emerge immediately. For me, this song represents the magic and unpredictability of the creative process, the moment I trusted my instincts and let the music guide me.”
Baby Grand Project
Baby Grand Project It goes by the name of Davide Cassaniti, an artist from Padua who has been active since the 1990s. Raised in a family of musicians, he began studying classical piano before discovering his true vocation at the age of ten, being struck by “Let It Be”, the Beatles' final and iconic album. This discovery represents a turning point, giving birth to a passion that led him to play dozens of Fab Four songs by ear, which remain his main influence. At fifteen he also embraced the guitar, playing in various bands on the local Padua scene, including Versus, Audiolazy and Lenn-on. The launch of the single “Undefined” in 2026 marks the beginning of his solo project, a return to his musical origins enriched by experience and maturity.
